PROGRAM
The specialized self-rescue maneuvering course is designed to learn the techniques and self-rescue maneuvers necessary when a safety-threatening event or first- or second-rope accident occurs while climbing.Â
During the course you will also learn how to deal with first aid care of the injured person and "inert suspension syndrome," better known in mountaineering circles as "sling syndrome." This is a clinical condition that associates inert suspension with loss of consciousness and can lead to death in a short time if not acted upon promptly and expertly.
The course lasts one day and is individual or group-based, with a maximum of six people per guide, for both adults and youth.
Depending on the time of year or weather conditions, it takes place outdoor on the wall or indoor in the climbing gym.
Topics covered:
- Types of hazards that can cause accidents
- Materials and techniques for self-rescue maneuvers
- Self-rescue maneuvers to the rope leader or second rope leader with respect to different positions (above/below the belay) and situations (self-sufficient or not, types of injuries)
- Medical aspects and primary care
