PROGRAM
Proposed three-day training course on the approach to first climbing routes, learning how to handle rope maneuvers at belays, both as a first and second roped climber. It will begin to handle rappelling and wall progression. The course is aimed at those who already have a good foundation in first-rope climbing and want to begin the experience of conquering a summit.
Topics covered:
- Climbing technique on vertical terrain
- Insurance to the first of the roped party
- Climbing as a lead climber
- Using blockers and brakes
- Placement of quick protections (friend)
- Stopping maneuvering
- Recovery of the second roped party
- Double rope
- Assisted rappelling
Course held over 3 days, one day per weekend, starting in mid-June.
