Sport climbing course

Sport climbing is a large and steadily growing sport that is practiced competitively, amateur and for motor education. It is a natural climbing that is carried out, both on artificial walls and natural walls along routes properly equipped with mandatory protective anchors.

Sport climbing is practiced away from the big walls, but the body and mind are engaged one hundred percent in a continuous challenge with oneself. It is a discipline that nonetheless brings us closer to nature and lays the technical foundation for dealing with the mountain environment as well.

Sport climbing is a particularly good sport for children because of its educational content, which promotes a healthy and constructive approach to life.

PROGRAM

The sport climbing course will provide the information and practices needed to climb safely and expertly in both indoor and outdoor environments.

It is aimed at those who are intrigued and fascinated by the sport and want to take their first steps, and those who have already started climbing and want to perfect their technique.

The sport climbing course is taught year-round by a Cortina360 Mountain Guide. Depending on the time of year or weather conditions, it takes place at the beautiful and perfectly equipped Dolomite crags or at one of the indoor climbing gyms near Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The course lasts three days and is individual or group-based, with a maximum of six people per guide, for both adults and youth.

Cortina360 Mountain Guides provide all the materials needed to conduct the course.

Topics covered:

  • Materials and safety techniques: knots, rope use and maneuvers, GriGri use, partner safety, belay belaying
  • Climbing techniques: balance, managing the center of gravity, use of the feet, the push of the legs, progression
  • Practices: preparatory exercises to improve balance and fluency, climbing from second, opening a route, rappelling
