84 Via Los Angeles 84 on the Col Bechei Glacis.

Route opened on the Spalti del Col Bechei by Mario Dibona Moro and Paolo Bellodis - August 24, 1984.

Features:

Beautiful eight-pitch route that offers fun climbing that follows a nice dihedral and continues with a crack that climbs to the top. The rock along the route is spectacular.
It presents 6+ max.

Equipment:

10 quickdraws, lanyards and webbing, friend series, also large.

Directions:

Mountain group: Fanes Dolomites.
Spalti del Col Bechei.
Slope : South.
Climbing time : 4 hours approx.
Wall height difference: 310 meters

Approach: about 1.40 hours (jeeps can be rented with great effort savings)
From the parking lot at the entrance to the Ampezzo Nature Park, follow the forest road leading into the Fanes Valley (trail No. 10) until you reach near the wall, at 1758 meters. You cross the Rio Fanes by crossing a wooden bridge and then continue for a few hundred meters along a grassy road until it becomes flat. You take the steep slope with trail tracks leading to the base of the wall and the marked dihedral.

Descent: about 1.30 hours, to the base of the wall.
When you reach the grassy ledge, you need to cross to the left and rappel 300/400 meters down rocky slopes to a large pine tree on the wall's ledge (lanyard and carabiner). With 3 rappels (2 of 50 meters and 1 of 25 meters) you return to the ledge of attack.

Report on the ascent route of the Los Angeles 84 route:

The Los Angeles 84 route was the first climbing route traced along this magnificent wall.

The route has exemplary logicality along a marked dihedral that climbs straight up to midwall, then by cracks and slabs to the summit.

The rope lengths along the large dihedral are very beautiful and articulated; the second pitch, which is challenging, obliges you to keep a little on the right-hand wall, then return to the dihedral that ends under a large roof. The latter is avoided with a good traverse to the left. Past a mule back, continue along a crack where care is needed! At this point you cross to the right to avoid a yellow wall. Then continue along a vertical crack to a large niche from which you exit to the right with a difficult, overhanging climb to reach a grassy area. Climb further along a pitch that leads to the top of the wall.

Note: tackling the route after a period of nice and dry weather
