Via del Pilastro at Tofana di Rozes

Route opened by E. Costantini and R. Apollonio in 1944.

Splendid climb along the majestic, overhanging South Pillar of the Tofana di Rozes. A slender crack from the bottom to the top offers consistently sustained and very technical climbing.

The key passages of the Pillar Route, to be freed, are the two roofs and a wide overhanging crack known as a "mule's back" that requires strength and agility.

The rock is always very nice and compact, although it is a bit slippery in some yellow sections. The Pillar Route today is all well equipped with bolts at the most overhead and awkward belays.
