ICE COURSE - BASIC LEVEL

For many outdoor enthusiasts, the idea of tackling an icefall is one of the most exciting experiences.

The wild, icy beauty of the ice combined with the adrenaline rush of climbing creates a truly unique experience.

In addition, ice climbing can take place in spectacular scenery, including isolated valleys, snow-capped mountains and pristine landscapes, where each climb is also a deep connection with winter nature.

If you are an adventure, adrenaline and mountain lover, icefall climbing will allow you to test yourself in a difficult but incredibly fascinating environment.

The thrill of the challenge and the pristine beauty of the landscape will leave you breathless, making each ascent an unforgettable experience.

DETAILS: 

DURATION: 2 full days + 1 evening of theory

PLACE: Armentarola (May vary depending on conditions)

REQUIRED LEVEL: Fair physical fitness (having basic rock climbing skills
is a plus).


EQUIPMENT: Mountain boots, harness, 2 carabiners with
screw locks, crampons, 2 ice axes. For those who do not have their own equipment, Cortina360 provides harnesses, helmets,
carabiners, ropes, crampons, 2 ice axes (included in the
price, boots while stocks last).

PROGRAMME: 

THEORY EVENING: At the climbing gym, lasting approximately 2 hours. Introduction to the course and ice climbing equipment.
Remote connection also possible.

DAY 1 PROGRAM: Use of equipment and progression techniques on stable terrain:

  • Ice climbing equipment: features and how to use them.
  • Basics of planning an ice climbing expedition.
  • Analysis of objective cascading hazards.
  • How to bind and belay partner in climbing, with rope from the toprope.
  • Proper use of ice axes and crampons.
  • Basic motor patterns in waterfall climbing.

DAY 2 PROGRAM: Nailing and introduction to vertical terrain:

  • How to use ice spikes.
  • How to build a stopover.
  • Nailing base position 
  • Introduction to climbing in vertical terrain
