Description
The course is intended for anyone who wants to gain knowledge to be able to tackle the high mountains independently.
The overnight stay will be at the Defreggerhaus hut, reached after 2.5 hours of climbing. On the following day, after breakfast, we will set off early toward the summit of Groรvenediger.
Program
The course will be held over a total of 2 days.
Sept. 26
Ascent to the Defreggerhaus hut
We will start from the Wiesenkreuz/Hinterbichl parking lot in the Virgen Valley. From here we will take a cab to the Johannishรผtte hut. From the Johannishรผtte we will have about 2.5 hours of climbing to reach the Defreggerhaus, our base for the next day's ascent of the Groรvenediger.
10 a.m.: Meet at Cortina 360 gym for participant count and materials check
12:30 p.m.: Arrive in Hinterbichl, pack lunch and transfer by cab to Johannishรผtte (โฌ17 per person per round trip)
4 p.m.: Arrive at Defreggerhaus and brief guide briefing before dinner
6:30 p.m.: Dinner
September 27
Groรvenediger summit
The next morning, after breakfast, we will set off early toward the summit. Shortly after the hut we will reach the Inner Mullwitzkees glacier, which descends from the south side of the Groรvenediger. We will traverse it roped up, with ice axe and crampons.
After reaching the Rainertรถrl, we will have about 1 hour of climbing to the summit (total approx. 3.5h from the hut). Just before the highest point we will face a short ridge, which depending on snow conditions will take us to the summit. From the summit there is a spectacular view of the surrounding peaks and the Dolomites to the south.
5:00 a.m.: Breakfast and departure for Groรvenediger
11:00 a.m.: Return to Defreggerhaus
2:00 p.m.: Arrive at the parking lot and return to Cortina
Variations are possible due to weather and/or unsuitable environmental conditions.

- Overnight stay with half board Defreggerhaus
Material needed: waterproof boots, harness, helmet, crampons and ice axe, sunglasses, cream, 2 pairs of gloves, head gear, down jacket, cap, eat and drink as much as needed.
Technical pants, two breathable T-shirts, technical midlayer sweatshirt, headlamp, backpack about 35l, sleeping bag.
