Basic High Mountain Course

PROGRAM

Proposal in two consecutive days (weekends) + introductory evening

5 p.m. Meet at Cortina360, presentation, materials check, itinerary study and weather evaluation.

Meet at Fedaia Pass, check equipment and start ascent. Tying rehearsal, progression on glacier, tying and belays on snow/ice.

Overnight or Glacier Refuge or Cima Marmolada.

Sunrise at 3350mt and breakfast.

Descent by ferrata, crevasse assessment and glacier terminal.

Return to Fedaia Pass.

Proposed itineraries:

  1. Marmolada normal route:

    We start from the dam of Lake Fedaia to ascend by trail 606 to rifugio Pian dei Fiacconi 2626m (1h 30), from here we try our hand at using crampons for glacier progression, climb a short ferrata and ascend to punta Penia... Snow, ice, crevasses..and more rock, until we reach the summit, at over 3300m.

  2. Marmolada West ridge:

    As for the normal route, start from the dam of Lake Fedaia to ascend by trail 606 to the Pian dei Fiacconi hut 2626m (1h 30), from here first downhill then contouring the north pillar to the glacier, which you ascend to a rocky section leading to the Forcella Marmolada.
    From here by the long West Ridge via ferrata until reaching the summit, at over 3300m.
