Grossglockner ascent

2-day tour with transfer from Cortina - overnight stay with half board in mountain hut - 1 Alpine Guide up to 3 people

Proposed dates: April 27 and 28 - May 02 and 03

Introduction: The Grossglockner is the highest peak in Austria (3798 m.), part of the Hohe Tauern chain and one of the most beautiful peaks.

Description of ascent: We arrive at the parking lot near Lucknerhaus, 1920m. From here a dirt road begins and we follow it past Lucknerhutte 2241m, where we cross the stream again and on the orographic right of the valley we climb to the saddle (on the ridge to our left) where the hut is located StÃŧdlhÃŧtte 2802m. There we spend the night.

The next morning, from the ski hut, make a diagonal turn to the right and start climbing the gorge again, aiming for the Grossglockner pyramid. You enter the Konidtzkees glacier. We ascend it to its right margin from where, leaving the skis on and putting on crampons, we take the equipped ridge leading to the Erz.Johann-Hutte 3451m (closed this season). After the hut the ridge becomes wide and flat, where you move to the east side to ascend the upper part of the Kleinglocknerkees glacier. You reach a gully that leads to the final ridge, which, again well equipped with numerous taproots, leads to the summit- Kleineglockner- and past the fork where the Pallavicini gully exits, you reach the summit.
Descent: On the descent follow the same route.
